the consultation process

You are considering a large tattoo project, or perhaps a small project. Either way; so exciting, super-pumped for you!

Let's book a free consultation to discuss future tattoo projects. The consultation should establish exactly what me, David, the tattooer needs to carry out your tattoo project effectively, leaving you utterly satisfied and hopefully dazzled. This page is a guide to the consultation process.

PRIOR TO CONSULTATION

It's free, but necessary to reach client satisfaction.

**Accumulate as many image references as possible that can visually depict your vision to me for a composition.**

**Have a bit of 'skin in the game' already. Take onus in your own composition.

**Onus- one'd duty or responsibility.**

**Spend a bit of time thinking about and researching through image gathering, what your vision as the tattooed will be. Think about the elements of your own design. Take ownership of your vision, so you can convey its composition to the tattooer(me: David) effectively.**

**Onus in research, preparation, time, patience, thoughtfulness, clarity, declaration, commitment**

hello, i tattoo

The initial tattoo consultation will establish first; will this client-tattooer relationship be suitable for the client.

This is information gathering for both the potential client and the tattooer. The consultation is where trust is established.

Both parties; the tattooist and the potential client must gain trust with each other before moving on. And if trust cannot be established; no hard feelings, hope you find the right fit, and all the best!

the who, what when, where, and why

This part of the consultation is the heavy lifting. The potential client has moved beyond establishing trust.

We will discuss composition elements, focal points in imagery, color, placement, sizes, expectations on pricing and time to complete pieces, commitment to beginning and completing a commissioning, ensuring a commissioning will not be a financial hindrance to self or family, will there be support to help care for tattoo in the healing process(back pieces), pain tolerances and session timing, and final approval of tattooist-client relationship (we will be married to each other, so-to-speak, depending on size of project 3-7 months)

securing dates for session 1-3

This part of the consultation we look at the calendar together to solidify session 1-3(or the whole she-bang) dates and times.

securing a deposiT for commissioning

This is the final part to the tattoo consultation. The deposit will be $100 for the design of the composition. Once a design is completed, the tattooist (Dave), or assistant will email the design to you for approval.

If a design is not to client's satisfaction, the client should email or call Dave for clarification on alteration needs (with additional picture references and explanation) to support changes to composition.

Alterations of the tattoo design composition will gladly be completed, but the cost of redesigning will be $100/hour of work completed. For a discerning and thorough client, this is perfectly fine. The preparation time is worth being satisfied in the end and the tattooist goal is for the client to be satisfied.
